Tips for a DIY Kitchen Remodel

Kitchen remodeling is so exciting. The kitchen is the heart of the home, a gathering place for friends and family and a place where you spend most of your time. So of course you want it to be in top shape. A lot of times we see homeowners avoid kitchen remodels because of how costly they can be. Now, we aren’t saying that all kitchen remodels are inexpensive, but we do have some tricks up our sleeves to help you save some money. First of all, the best way to save a ton of money is by keeping your layout. There are so many things you can do to a kitchen to increase it’s looks that don’t necessarily mean changing the floor plans. When you get into changing around the floor plans you start to spend double your budget due to plumbing. For example, when you change where your sink is in your kitchen you run into moving the plumbing system. And once you open up a wall there is a strong possibility of other things factoring in that could cost you even more money. Secondly, save your money and redo the cabinets yourself. You will be tempted to buy new “custom” cabinetry, but if you have the patience you can just upgrade your current cabinetry yourself. For this DIY project you should remove all cabinets, sand them, paint them and then rehang them. After you reinstall your cabinets look at the handles on them. If you can change these out for updated and modern cabinet door handles this is an inexpensive way to upgrade the feel of your kitchen too. Want to make your space feel even more fresh? When you paint your cabinets add a splash of paint on the walls to add a whole new look to your kitchen. We truly believe that some paint and a little elbow grease can cure almost any aggravation for a home space. A great way to bring everything together is by adding some shelving with minimal decorations to help your kitchen not only get a fresh clean look, but make it feel warm and homey as well.
