Laminate Installation

Laminate Installation

As with any other flooring project, laminate installation is considered a construction project so while it’s possible to DIY, we recommend that you hire a professional to get it done.

Laminate Installation usually involves a lot of noise, dust, and material odors. Although our installers will do their utmost best to contain any mess and noise, knowing what to expect and how to prepare yourself can help make the process go faster and smoother and also eliminate any surprises.

Before Installation

The first step for laminate Installation is getting accurate measurements of the space to determine how much material is required. Our team will visit your home to take the measurements and discuss the process with you, including the layout and removal of any existing flooring.

If you’re remodeling other parts of your house, we advise that they should be completed before the installation is scheduled. Also, all furniture, electrical appliances, and all other household items should be removed from the area before the installation. Also, please ensure that your home has an operational HVAC unit(s) before, during, and after installation.

If your home is climate-controlled, your laminate will be ready to install as soon as it arrives. But if that isn’t the case or if the temperature is extreme, the laminate flooring will need to sit inside your home, usually in an unused room or in whatever space you can make. This is done for it to adjust to your home temperature and this process is known as acclimation. Our installer will let you know whether or not acclimation will be needed for your laminate flooring.

Please note that there’s always the possibility of unforeseen problems and this could affect the estimated installation time. If that’s the case, our team will communicate it to you on time and will be happy to answer any last-minute questions you might have.

During Installation

Once all due processes have been followed and all concerns attended to, our installer will begin the installation process. Please note that during the installation, we will require you and any other member of the home to vacate the room, this is done to ensure safety and to enable our team to carry out their work effectively.

After Installation

After the installation, our team will remove any work-related debris. We advise that you stay off your newly installed floor for the first 24 hours. This is to allow any adhesive used to set properly. Also, leave your windows open to remove any odors from the installation process.

We also advise that as you move your furniture back into the room, it will be a good idea to put rubber pads on the bottom of any furniture that will come in direct contact with your laminate floor to minimize scratches or dents.
